Karen Hill

Committee Chaplain

I have been a member of BCUCC for four years. I love our church because we are welcoming to all, understanding that we all are part of God’s family. We collaborate with God and each other in pursuing Biblically-based social and creation justice. And we pray to be attentive to God’s spirit and listen together for God is still speaking. I serve in our congregation because I want to contribute to the well-being of our spiritual family and to walk with God in appreciation of the beauty of connectedness.

Carol and I joined BCUCC almost five years ago. We visited for the first time on a Christmas Eve, and immediately knew we’d found a church that matched our core values. I love that our church continually pursues causes in support of justice and compassion, especially our work on the environment and climate change, our partnership with other faith communities, and our providing friendship and shelter to the job-challenged. I serve because I have two hands, two feet, and I know God can use the help.

I‘ve been a part of the BCUCC family for about five years, and deeply love the friendly, actively inclusive atmosphere and strong dedication to peace, justice and the environment that drives everything this church does. I’m honored to serve on the search committee to help our church find a new partner in that ministry.

My family and I have been a part of the BCUCC family for 34 years and I have served in several posts on the Council, currently as Treasurer for the past 18 years. Throughout all those years our church has been a constant voice of welcome, social justice and open to God’s ever-present voice. I am excited to participate in sustaining our mission and growing our message for the future.

My wife Kimly and I first came to Brea Congregational on Ash Wednesday service in 2010. I came because I was broken and missing church community, having taken a long leave of absence from church life after losing safe space. BCUCC has been a saving grace in reconnecting my faith to community and I want to make sure it sticks around to be that for all that pass through the doors. I am excited and honored to represent my church in the search for it‘s new pastor, to grow it’s mission of Jesus’ radical and inclusive message, and to serve God in faith.
